Fractional Ownership: Timeshare ownership of two or more weeks at the same resort during a calendar year. Generally defined as ownership in intervals of more than one week and less than whole ownership. 'Fractionals' are a fast-growing segment of the timeshare industry. As it is substantially more expensive to buy larger blocks of time, fractionals usually tend to be higher-end luxury properties. The concept of fractional ownership can also extend to other luxury properties such as boats and aircraft.
