Icing: When a player from one team shoots the puck from across the red line to and across the oppositionís goal line and the puck is then touched by a player from the other team, this is icing. When this happens the puck is brought back to the zone from where the puck was shot. A team which is short-handed is allowed to ice the puck without drawing a penalty. Icing is also not called if in the opinion of the referee a defensive player could have played the puck before it crossed the goal line or if the defensive goalie is the first player to touch the puck after it has crossed the goal line.
