Goal Crease: An area in front of the goal cage. In the national hockey league, the crease is a rectangle 8 feet wide and 4 ½ feet long, surmounted by the arc of a circle that extends a further 1 ½ feet at its height. Attacking players are not allowed to interfere with the goaltender in the crease, although incidental contact is now allowed.
