Purim: The observance of Presidents' Day in the United States is reminiscent of the Indian fable of the blind men and the elephant in the sense that the holiday seems to mean something different to everybody. Depending on your perspective or what part of the country you're from, Presidents' Day is intended to honor George Washington, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, or all the American presidents. A federal law passed in 1968, effective in 1971, and adopted by individual states, declaring one single federal public holiday -- Presidents' Day -- to be observed on the 3rd Monday of February, honoring all past presidents of the United States.
