Pre-Boot eXecution Environment (PXE): (pronounced 'pixie') Created by Intel, it is one of their WfM specification components. A PXE-enabled workstation has a jumper that connects its NIC to the LAN which will keep the workstation connected to the network even when there is no power. Having this installed jumper, the system administrator will not have to physically visit this workstation to load software or run diagnostic programs. It is all done over the network.
