Dual In-Line Memory Module (DIMM): DIMM is a later version of memory than that of its earlier SIMM (Single In-line) counterpart. A DIMM module was introduced for the Pentium processor because the Pentium processor needed a 64 bit path. The SIMM module only has a 32 bit path. Also, SIMM modules are required to be replaced in pair whereas the DIMM modules can be replaced one at a time.
